Fabio Mota started his career as an actor in Porto, Portugal, where t His fascination for light and story directed him to the craft of Cinematography. He worked on various docs, promos and fiction projects in Berlin, Amsterdam and Lisbon.

In 2016, he joined the Cinematography MA at the National Film & TV School in the UK, under the guidance of Oliver Stapleton & Stuart Harris. He received the knowledge and experience of a world class professional set workflow, with direct masterclasses of other Legendary DPs such as Roger Deakins, Brian Tufano, Billy Williams, Rob Hardy and Sean Bobbitt. Some of the films he singed the cinematography during this period, such as” Miss Curvy” and “The Fire Next Time” have been winning festivals world wide, been short listed for the student Oscars, and were both nominated for the 2021 BAFTAS.

In 2020, Fabio was called back to Portugal to DP his first Portuguese Fiction series “O Clube”, directed by Patricia Sequeira. Shortly after, He also DP’ed the instant cult TV show “5 Starz” directed by Justin Amorim and produced by Promenade Films, and the Mini series “Na Porta ao Lado” about domestic abuse. His latest TV show “PRAXX” also directed by Patricia Sequeira is now on Amazon Prime and has been awarded “Best Cinematography on a TV Show or TV Film, by the AIP Cinema Portugal.
